Gustavson Family Fun Time

So it was time again for another Gustavson family reunion.  This year we found ourselves in a place that if I didn't want to sound like a kook I would say felt like home.  Hawaii. It was so good to be back.  And it was even better to be with all my family.  Since I was with my family most of the pictures that I took ended up being of my niece and nephews.  Since I don't have pictures here are some of the things that I did while I was there.

Started the trip out going here...

We stayed at Turtle Bay so I was able to do a little of this

And this...
and this...

I love the beachs in Hawaii and although the waves are super small during the summer on the north shore I was able to do a little of this...

And the flat surf allowed us to do this too

And it wouldn't be a Gustavson reunion unless we did a lot of this...

And don't be too surprised that I found one of these there too...

A boy and a girl in a little canoe

This past weekend I headed up to Las Vegas to meet up with my friends from Arizona to go on a canoeing trip.  There is so much that I could write about but I am not sure how much you all are really interested in the trip so I will just give you the highlights.

Thursday:
-Drove out to Vegas and arrived early enough that I was able to do a session in the Las Vegas temple.  It was so awesome to go from the hectic chaos of driving to the peacefulness of the temple.
-Met up with the Arizona crew in the lovely Hacienda Hotel and Casino

Friday:
-Woke up bright and early and met up with the canoe man who took us down to the river.
-Spent the day canoeing from adventure to adventure including a cave that was a sauna, hiking up a hotsprings waterfall, being tarzan and swinging from a rope down a waterfall, moving a giant boat that got stuck when the water levels went down, and jumping off cliffs into 52 degree water.
-That night after we set up camp a storm rolled in including thunder and lightning, a little bit of rain, lots of wind, and 110 degree weather.  Needless to say it was a pretty sleepless night.

Saturday:
-Woke up bright and early to a peaceful river and spent the morning canoeing the rest of the way down the river.
-Hit the road back to Orange County were I was very happy to be reunited with my bed and pillow.

There will be more pictures to follow.  All in all it was a fantastic trip.  It was so fun to be out in nature and to be able to enjoy some of God's creations. I am not much of a camper but I would definitely do this trip again!

American Idol Tour 2008

On Monday night Amber, Julie and I all went to see the American Idol concert.  It was SO good.  I was actually surprised at all good they all were.  It is so easy to watch someone on TV and to say "yeah they are pretty good at singing" but to hear them all in person was seriously amazing.

So it was the top ten singers and they each got to perform about three songs.  Some of the songs were songs that they sang on the show and some of them were not.  Each one of them did an amazing job and I was surprised at what great performers they all were.  I even have to give a few apologies.

First I would like to start with Brooke White.  I never fully believed in her especially there at the end when she would mess up on the words and such.  But she was amazing. I would totally buy her CD.  She played both the piano and the guitar.  I loved her version of "Let it Be" (that is also one of my favorite songs) but she also did a rendition of "Yellow" by coldplay that was really really good.

Next I need to apologize to Jason Castro.  I never really liked him.  I was so shocked that he went as far as he did and ever week I hoped that he would be kicked off.  BUT... I stand corrected.  He also put on a great show with his super chill attitude and music... I would probably listen to him as well.

Michael John doesn't need an apology from me because I have liked him from the start. Watching him in concert though has just made my love for him grow stronger.  I would even go as far to say that I like him and his voice better than I like David Cooks. (I know there are many people who would disagree but... to each their own)

Then of course the night ended with the two Davids.  The crowd was going crazy when little Archie started. He was true to his same cute slightly shy personality that he had on the show.

Then the last performer was David Cook.  Everyone loves him and he proved himself worthy of the title American Idol.

David Cook

All in all it was an incredible night to see all of them perform.

So I WISH I could dance

So it's Wednesday and that means two things. Feeding Frenzy and So you think you can dance.  I am really liking this season. I think all the dancers are great. These are my favorite dances from last week.

1. Will and Jessica

I am not sure why I like this dance so much... maybe its because of Will's hot body or... maybe because I this is one of my very favorites songs or... maybe its because a guy with a hot body is dancing to one of my favorite songs...

2. Katee and Joshua

Are you kidding me?  These two are amazing!

3.  Twitch and Khertington

I just thought this one was really creative.  I think anyone that has lost sleep over a break up can relate to this one.

I am excited to see what tonights show brings!

#8 on life list: see snoop dawg is concert... check

Let's just be honest.  Who doesn't want to say that they have snoop dogg in concert?  You know its on your life list too!  So when a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to join him to the concert how could I say no?

He performed with 311 who were equally as awesome.  It was a great show! Ain't no party like a west coast party...
