White out

 A few weekends ago some friends from South County were throwing a birthday party on a Yacht.  The theme was "White Out"  and everyone was asked to wear all white.  The boat was awesome with three floors.  One being a lounge area fully equipped with a piano and all. Second floor (and the only one I really stayed on) was the dance floor.  And the third floor was an open air where people could sit and view the sights of newport harbor and gaze at a star or two.  

On my mind

I have had a lot of free time lately. Post school ending I have so much time that I almost miss being busy with school. You would think that I would love the free time... well I do... but the sun has been hiding this week and when the sun hides I turn lazy.

So here are a few things that have been occupying my time and mind:

1. The Hills finale.

Go ahead. Judge away. I don't really care. It is one of my many guilt pleasures. I love to sit infront of the TV for a half an hour, or 15 minutes thanks to TiVo, and lose myself in the life of some of the most ridiculous people on the face of the earth. I love to hate Spiedi, Speidi's sister(s), and of course, Justin Bobby. I have a few things to say about these people.

Spencer= I secretly like you. I know everyone else hates you... but I think you are great in your own horrible person kind of way. You are real. And that is something that you don't find in most people, especially people on your show. You don't hide who you really are and you don't care that most people think the "real you" sucks. So i say... keep doing what you are doing. It at least gives me entertainment monday nights for 6 months out of the year.

Heidi= You were once a good person. You looked normal and probably were normal. Now you are Barbie to the max. Your hair is ridiculous. And your wedding jewelry looked awful... yes... it was too much.

Speidi=You two couldn't be more perfect for each other. It really gives me hope that there really is someone for everyone.

Justin Bobby= Its true, you need to take a shower or 5 but I think deep down you are just a tortured soul who needs a few good years of therapy.

You can't blaim him for his relationship with Adrina. He doesn't know better... he is loving her in the only way he knows how. I am not giving him excuses... it is still unacceptable. But I also understand why Adrina goes back to him. She shouldn't and I am proud of her for making the progrss she has. I think there is a lot more to their relationship that we don't see.

Stephanie= You are not smart. That is all.

Lauren= All these people are famously rich because of you. Especially Spencer, and he doesn't give you any credit for his fame and fortune it. Besides that... good move on leaving the show. It was time. And quite frankly you were boring and there really wasn't anything to watch in your life.

Kristin= Welcome back to TV. I am excited to see what drama you cause.

April= You need to get a life.

2. I really like to bake. Cookies, bread, whatever. Yesterday I made homemade Jam and Bread. And it made me very happy.

3. My room is finally coming together. I got a new dresser and desk and am finally organizing everything. And I am going to Home Goods today. I love that store. Pictures to come.

4. Lakers. I live in Southern California and I cannot wait for the finals to be over. I am so over this basketball season and everyone obsessing over the Lakers. People are crazy fanatics down here. I am glad that people are passionate about something... but enough is enough.

5. Lastly, I love Alanis Morissette.

Memorial Weekend

For memorial weekend my peeps from AZ came out to check out what the OC was all about. I was happy to play cruise director and we had a weekend full of fun.

It all started on Saturday morning when everyone we had arrived and we headed to Irvine's Great Park in order to ride the Great Balloon. I had tried to do this numerous times with my family and work friends and every time have been denied due to weather issues. So I was super excited that it worked out.

After riding the Balloon we headed over to The Counter where we ate custom made hamburgers. After lunch and a pit stop at yogurtland, we headed to HB where they hit up the sidewalk sales and took a small peak at the AVP tour.

That evening we did something I have wanted to do ever since the show Newport Harbor (whatever happened to that show??) was on air and that is take a Duffy Boat into the Harbor. We grabbed some strawberries, chips, and a few bottles of bubbly (relax... it was just sparkling cider) and took our tour of Balboa area via boat while watching a beautiful sunset.

That night we headed up to LA to watch Comedy Sportz. I swear... that is my favorite place. I think its soo funny! I was dying laughing the whole time.

Sunday we worshipped as usual followed by a delicious dinner. Then we took the herds down to Crystal Cove to walk off the Sunday feast and enjoy the sights and sounds of a sunset over the ocean. Sometime I REALLY love where I live.

That night was fun filled with games... another favorite activity of mine. It was confirmed once again that I am the WORST liar and Mafia is just not the game for me.
Monday morning we gathered a bunch of rackets up and headed over to CDM high for a tennis tourney, followed by a basketball bash. The morning games were followed by lunch at the one and only Cafe Panini (another favorite) and then we spent the afternoon soaking up some rays at CDM beach.

I seriously love the AZ crew. They are some of my favorite people ever. Playing cruise director was also amazing because I got to plan all my favorite activities. So honestly who could have asked for a better weekend? I was with some of my favorite people, doing my favorite things, in some of my favorite places!

Summer Reading

I finally finished my semester!  Two semesters down... I have NO clue how many left to go.  I finally have some free time again.  Tonight was the first night when I was sitting there and realized... I don't have anything I have to do.  I decided that this summer I want to read a lot.  Read at the gym (which i WILL be going to a lot), read at the beach (also will be a frequent stop for my Mazda),  read on a house boat at lake powell etc... you get the point.  

Anyway... I need suggestions of books to read.  So to my faithful blog stalkers... its time to actually make some comments.  I know you all have a favorite book.  What is it? What should be on my summer reading list?

Take me out to the ball game

I was chatting with a friend of mine and he mentioned that he was driving up to San Fran a few weekends ago to go to a Giants game.  Apparently he is a big fan of the bay area sports teams.  As many of you (all 2 of you that read my blog)  know I am from the San Jose (which happens to be in the Bay Area)  and so last minute I decided to catch a ride up with him and visit the folks for a weekend.  Luckily for me, I also got to tag along to the game.  We had incredible seats, the weather was beautiful and although the giants lost it was still great game.  

It was like 90 degrees in the stadium that day, which is unheard of for San Francisco, luckily Momma Gustavson had these really cool visors for me and Jessica to wear.  I am telling ya, week two of a visor saving me from the heat.  Some may tease me about it but I am all about the visor these days. 

 

Guess who else was at the game?  My long lost college roommate Whitney Morris.  I love this girl. It was so fun to see her and she is totally the same.  It was like it hasn't been 8 years since we have lived together... wow... I am getting old. 

Tri in Vegas, Die in Vegas

Last year my college girlfriends and I started an annual tradition of doing the Las Vegas Iron Girl Triathlon.  Its the perfect place for a reunion since its the middle place between California, Utah, and AZ (where most of them live).  So this year when I signed up I thought... "Hmmm maybe if I sign up for the Olympic tri I will train for it and it will help me get into shape."  Well I was wrong.  I didn't train for this beast and boy did I pay for it.  The swim went well.  It was a mile in a lake and I felt good about the swim.  THEN the biking came.  This was 25 miles of torture for me.  I had only ridden my ghetto fabulous bike (that weighs a ton) three times prior to this event.  And we rode up a trail called the three sisters... you can imagine what the sisters looked like.  Not only as the trail crazy hard but the chain came off my bike half way through the ride so I was stranded (because I know NOTHING about bikes) for like 10 minutes trying to fix it.  Lastly the run... wait, let me correct myself... the 6 mile HIKE was awful.  It was pretty much straight uphill all six miles, on a dirt trail, in 95 degree weather.  It was miserable.  

Yet... I had such a fun time doing it. I already can't wait until next year.

After the race we headed back to the hotel for a little R & R (I kind of hate that phrase). We tried sleeping by the pool but it was just too hot for comfort... so what do 5 20 something year old girls do on a hot day in vegas?  Play with their underwater camera that they finally found.  

That night we fought our exhaustion and ventured out to the strip for some dinner, people watching, and of course the water show.  I seriously love these girls and had such a fun time with them.  

What once was lost is now found

So... guess what I found!  My camera!!! It was right where knew it was.  So here are some pictures that I found from my birthday...

My friend Mari had a birthday dinner for me and my friend Emily.  It was a great night with delicious food and some of my favorite people.  I know this is late but...
